Winter Camps For Kids
Winter camps are great for kids looking forward to a winter break from school! Would your youth and teens like to keep busy this winter, and have fun at camp too? Whether they’re school camp trips during the regular school year, or winter break sleepover camps, there’s lots of variety available. Here are some suggestions for finding winter camps for kids in your area!
- Check with your local YMCA for kids winter camps. The YMCA winter camps provide a safe and wholesome place for kids during the winter Christmas holidays from school, giving parents peace of mind. When parents need to work, lining up winter camps is very important. Give your local YMCA a call to find out local winter camp programs. - Are there any nature winter camps in your area? Where do school age children in your area typically go for science camps in 5th grade - these camps might be open for fun winter camp adventures! One fine example of a sleepaway nature camp that is open in the winter is The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre, near Santa Barbara, CA. This great nature camp is open from October to June, with 4 day, 3 night sleepaway camp programs and 2 day, 1 night sleepaway camp programs. Kids from different schools get to share cabins and make new friends. Each cabin group at nature camp hikes together, eats together and forms close teams and social unity. Kids at this winter sleepaway nature camp have fun with astronomy, botany, biology, wildlife biology, and Chumash history. - National or State Parks are great locations for winter sleepover camps. Yosemite Institute offers a variety of outstanding nature sleepaway camps for kids in Yosemite National Park, California. These camps are offered in summer, which is perfect for year round schools, and during the traditional school year. Kids camp in beautiful Curry Village in cabins and tent cabins, which are all heated in the winter. Meals are included, and hikes and activities with naturalists are part of the daily curriculum. For teens ages 16 - 19 that have completed one year of high school biology, Yosemite Institute is now enrolling for summer camp in 2010. This 10 day overnight sleepaway camp for teens is a high country backpacking adventure! College credit for teens is included, and teens determine their particular study while on this summer college for teens camp.
